The Bachelorette‘s Brooke Blurton has announced the tragic death of her sister.

Posting to her Instagram Stories on Saturday, the 26-year-old revealed she had stepped away from social media in recent weeks in a bid to focus her energy on ‘processing’ the loss of her loved one.

‘Hey guys, obviously it’s been a while since I’ve been on here and we can all guess that reason,’ she began in her emotional and candid post.

‘I do like to think I live a private life, but I kinda wanted to share with you where I’m at. Something hugely personal and vulnerable,’ she said.

‘On the 11/8 I had just received news that my sister passed away.’

The reality star went on to let fans know that she has been trying to ‘process’ her sister’s passing while being in Sydney’s lockdown without her family.

‘I’ve thankfully had huge support from production and friends working tirelessly to get me back to WA so that I can mourn with my family,’ she added.

Brooke then shared that she has had been rejected for a G2G pass [an allowance to travel to WA during covid-19] multiple times, which left her feeling ‘depleted and distraught’.

However, she updated fans with some positive news, adding: ‘Finally last night my G2G pass was successful, let in under compassionate grounds.’

Brooke then took a moment to express her gratitude for the ‘huge support’ she’s had from Channel Ten’s production team, her friends, loved ones and her pet pup Cobar.

She also concluded the emotional post with an inspirational message, writing: ‘Just want to say… I know we’re all doing it pretty friggen (sic) rough with the current world climate. Though look to sky and lift your heads up. We will get through this.’

Brooke did not reveal any further details about her sister’s passing, nor did she share any photos.

Last month, Brooke began filming her season of The Bachelorette – which will see her as the first ever bisexual contestant.

At the time, she shared her thoughts on the journey ahead of her in a thoughtful Instagram post.

‘How exciting that I’ll be embarking on the search to find “my one” in the next couple of weeks,’ she wrote.

She told her followers she was ‘so overwhelmed’ by the positive response to her being the first bisexual and Indigenous Bachelorette.

‘I’ve addressed in multiple interviews the immense pressure I feel to protect the communities I am a part of and represent them with so much pride and integrity,’ she said.
